The meeting began promptly at 7:00p.m.opening prayers led by Father Mullins.

New Business

Father Mullins welcomed our new Vestry memb= ers, Barbara Beere, Dave Britton, Chris Lamothe and Helene Saylor. He thank= ed the graduating vestry members for their contributions and faithful service.
The vestry members observed conversations b= etween members of classes 2008 and 2011. The class of 2008 discussed their experience serving on the Vestry, things they liked, didn’t like= , what its like leaving the Vestry and what advice would they give the new cl= ass of 2011. The Vestry class of 2011 was asked to introduce themselves, discuss their involvement with St. Barnabas and what it is like being = on the Vestry.
Father Mullins read the statement of ratifi= cation to the Vestry relative to the requirements of the Articles of Incorporation.
Father Mullins announced a fund raising com= mittee has been formed and is scheduled to meet on May 9. The members are Lin= da Kurtzman, Christine Schmitz, Donna Hansen, Eleanor Mercer, and Nancy Lewis-Heagerty.

Old Business

A new By-laws committee has been formed to = update the church’s By-laws. It has been approximately 9-10 years since= our last update. The committee will be led by Becki Vasse and its members = are Ed Overton, Terry Willard and Art Delagrange.

Reports

Treasurer’s Report: Tom Milnes

Tom gave the Vestry a brief on our financial status, account summary, and the draft budget for 2008-2009. The finan= ce committee is working hard putting together past records, bank statemen= ts and other financial records to help determine how much we owe in back taxes. More time will be needed to determine what we owe the IRS for 2002-2008. The bottom line is our current safety net of $181,743.17 is going to take a big hit.
Tom presented some ideas to eliminate the deficit, which included an increase in pledges, increased attendance a= nd organizing a fund raising committee.
The Rector’s child support payments w= ere discussed. Due to a misunderstanding, child support deductions were st= opped July 1, 2007 while Father Mullins was on sabbatical. Father Mullins discussed this with his attorney and was advised to bring the payments= up to date as soon as possible. Tom proposed we advance the Rector an interest free loan of transactions in arrears and through July 1, 2008. Rector biweekly deductions will be paid to St. Barnabas until loan is paid.
The vestry requested an update from the fin= ance committee concerning the IRS situation. It was agreed the finance committee would provide updates via email.

Rectors Report: Father Mullins

Father Mullins read a letter to the vestry discussing questions pertaining to our current IRS situation. The lett= er was to help parishioners put prospective on this problem and give some ins= ight on how it occurred.
Helen’s last day will be May 31, 2008= .
Father Mullins will be interviewing possibl= e candidates for the Parish administrator position. A decision will be made very so= on to give the new candidate at least two weeks of training with Helen.
The search continues for a new music direct= or.

Senior Wardens report: Art Delegrange = 211; Nothing to report.

Junior Wardens report: Chris Gunther

A workday is scheduled for June 22 with Jun= e 29 as the rain date. Most of the work will focus on the grounds outside t= he Church.
Ted Jacobs is working towards becoming an E= agle Scout. Part of his journey includes a community project. Ted’s p= lans on building a retaining wall outside the Parish house as his community project. He needs to raise funds on his own to pay for materials and provide the Vestry with plans for final approval.

Deacon Report: Nothing to report

The vestry meeting ended at 9:00 p= .m. with prayers of the Vestry, led by Father Mullins.
